On this DVD, Boris in detail explains myofascial tissue
release in cases of thoracic outlet syndrome, trigger point
therapy in rotator cuff/ frozen shoulder treatment including
post-isometric relaxation for range of motion improvement.
With the use of a model, Boris explains and demonstrates in
details how to perform precise rehabilitative exercises on
the shoulder region. Also covered in detail is the treatment
for tennis/golf elbow, including periostal massage. The treatment
for the pandemically problematic carpal tunnel syndrome is
also clearly explained and demonstrated in the same detailed
manner. Finally, Boris in detail demonstrates and explains
European cranial-sacral therapy as developed by Bulgarian
scientist Boris Ivanov, MD. This cranial-sacral therapy was
named as a clinical biomechanic approach and is proven to
be a powerful method for correction of spinal as well as whole-body
biomechanics. This set of European cranial-sacral techniques,
including scapula manipulation, spinal mobilization, and traction
for the cervical and lumbar spine, can be offered as a separate
modality.
Testimonial
"Exceptional! This is one of the very best instructional
videos or DVD's I have seen in my 25 years of practicing and
teaching massage. It is superbly designed and highly informative.
Boris Prilutsky's programs are packed with important scientific
and clinical information as well as detailed, easy to follow
demonstrations. Any student or experienced practitioner will
enjoy and greatly benefit from this series."

European
Cranio-Sacral Therapy
European
Cranio-Sacral Therapy was researched and proposed in 1968
by a Bulgarian research scientist, Boris Ivanov. Dr. Ivanov
called this method Clinical Biomechanical Approach. While
researching this area, he came to the conclusion that the
spinal column is a complicated biomechanical system. On any
level of spinal column, any biomechanical disturbances cause
an immediate biomechanical realignment of the spinal column.
For example, if in the cervical region of the spine any segment
develops hypo-mobility (locked segment), the spinal segment
located below it starts developing hyper-mobility. In turn,
in the thoracic spine, some of the segments start developing
hypo-mobility, while some develop hyper-mobility. Also, the
biomechanical changes mentioned above will appear in the lumbar
spine, and in the lumbo-sacral alignment. These kinds of biomechanical
disturbances, produce pain and discomfort, as well as to the
development of spinal pathologies such as herniation of disc,
spondyloarthritis, degenerative disc disease, etc. Additionally,
movement of cerebrospinal fluid is compromised significantly
due to disturbances of normal physiological movements (anterior/posterior)
in the sacral region of the spine. In Volume 4 of Boris Prilutskys
Medical Massage DVD series, Boris offers a detailed discussion
and hands-on demonstration on correcting the biomechanics
of spine, performing scapula manipulation, cervical manual
traction, lumbar spine traction, SI joint mobilization, and
spinal segment mobilization. European Cranio-Sacral Therapy
tremendously contributes to ones general health, as
well as to the prevention of not only spinal disorders, but
can possibly prevent Alzheimers disease development
(which is attributed to the acceleration of cerebrospinal
fluid drainage).
How
Massage Therapy can be beneficial in cases of Thoracic Outlet
Syndrome
Pain
and limitation of range of motion in the neck region also
originates from neuromuscular disorders. Many superficial
and deep muscles are involved in the movement of the cervical
spine. If physical or emotional stress becomes too great,
these muscles can accumulate pathological tension and produce
a painful limited range of motion, radiating pain down the
arms, and producing sharp intense tension headaches. One of
the difficult pathologies of the cervical spine region is
Anterior Scalene Muscle Syndrome or Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.
This occurs when the scalene muscles become so over-tensed
that they compress the brachial nervous plexus (a branched
network of nerves). If the pressure is great enough to obstruct
veins and arteries, in addition to the radiating pain, blue
coloration of the arm may be evident (evidence of disturbance
in venous blood drainage), tingling in the fingers will be
present (evidence of arterial blood supply insufficiency),
etc. Using Medical Massage procedures, we can release tension
and compression of the brachial plexus nerves and restore
venous blood drainage and accelerate arterial blood supply
to the extremities. We usually need only a short time to reach
results. As you can see in this clinically difficult condition,
it is not necessarily the compression of spinal nerves that
causes the problems.
In
Volume 4 of Boris Prilutskys Medical Massage DVD series,
Boris offers detailed discussions and hands-on demonstrations
utilizing Medical Massage techniques in the treatment of Thoracic
Outlet Syndrome.
How
Massage Therapy helps to prevent and treat Carpal Tunnel Syndrome,
and Rotator Cuff Syndrome
Lately,
due to the excessive use of computers, more and more people
are developing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
causes pain in the wrist area, with irradiation to the palm.
Sometimes if Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is not treated early and
correctly, individuals can develop more aggravated clinical
pictures, such as the loss of ability to even hold a glass
of water. In these extreme cases, surgical intervention might
be necessary.
The
carpal tunnel is formed by the carpal bones (in the wrist),
bridged by transfer ligaments and covered by protective connective
tissue. Inside of this small tunnel are 9 muscle tendons responsible
for flexion, and the median nerve, which provides innervation
to half the palm. When these flexor muscles become overloaded
(through repeated motion, as in typing), pathological tension
is accumulated. The ensuing inflammation of the tendons (swelling)
not only produces local tendonitis pain, but also compresses
the median nerve, which results in the development of the
neurological clinical picture.
By
unloading the flexor muscles, eliminating trigger points in
carpal tunnel, and increasing arterial blood supply, we reduce
the swelling of the protective membrane, which in turn decompresses
the median nerve. In the first 5-6 treatments, patients experience
usually a significant improvement. As you understand, gradual
accumulation of tension in the flexor muscles is a main cause
for carpal tunnel.
Medical
Massage therapy can also play an important role in the prevention
of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome development. This is done by reducing
the tension in the flexor muscles. Disorders such as Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome, knee disorders, rotator cuff, tennis elbow,
golf elbow, tensor fascia latae muscle syndrome, etc., can
be successfully treated by connective tissue massage, myofascial
tissue release, trigger point therapy, post-isometric relaxation,
etc. In Volume 4 of Boris Prilutskys Medical Massage
DVD series, Boris offers detailed discussions and hands-on
demonstrations utilizing Medical Massage techniques in the
treatment of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and Rotator Cuff Syndrome.
