LA COUNTY LICENSING
PROCEDURES
There is not hourly requirement to obtain a massage therapy
license in the Los Angeles Counties. However, to apply for
a license, you must bring the following to the LA County
License Office:
1.)a diploma from a state-certified massage school
2.) a medical certificate
3.) two 2" x 2" pictures five letters of character references
4.) a check for $209.00
5.) a letter of intent of employment (i.e. "J Smith will
be employed by...name of health club, chiropractor etc as
a Massage Technician once he/she passes the Police Permit
procedure." You must work for or have a letter of intent
of employment from someone with a valid police permit for
a massage business.

addition to the above fee, there is a $80 fee for fingerprints.
The fee for a license to open a massage studio is $1400.
